Weekend Closures: Friday 7/30 - Saturday 7/31:
Lane Closures Along 295: Friday 7/30 and Saturday 7/31 Temporary lane closures will be implemented along the Baltimore Washington Parkway/295.
Lane closures will be implemented along both northbound and southbound 295 between
Waterview Avenue and the county line from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00.
These lane closures may also be implemented again on Saturday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Motorists traveling on the Baltimore Washington Parkway may encounter temporary delays and
are encouraged to use alternate routes.
Lane Closures Along the Jones Falls Expressway: Saturday, 7/31
The right lane of northbound Jones Falls Expressway will be closed between Howard Street
and the county line from 6:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
In addition, the left lane of the southbound Jones Falls Expressway will also be closed
on Saturday between the city line and Fayette Street from 6:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Hamilton Street Festival and Custom Car Show: Saturday, 7/31 On Saturday, a portion of Harford Road will be temporarily closed for the Hamilton Street
Festival and Classic Car Show. Harford Road will be closed to through traffic between
Echodale and White Avenues from 7:00 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. with detours in effect.
International Soccer Game to be held at M&T Bank Stadium: Saturday 7/31 High volumes of traffic are expected downtown for the International Soccer Game which
will be held at M&T Bank Stadium. The match will begin at 8:00 p.m.
Northern Parkway Lane Closures: 7/28/10 and continuing for about two weeks Temporary lane closes are implemented along Northern Parkway for resurfacing work between
Falls Road and Park Heights Avenue from 7:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. These lane closures
will be implemented each night for about two weeks.
Sharp Street Closure: 7/29/10- 7/30/10 A portion of Sharp Street will temporarily close for convention activities between Pratt
and Conway Streets from 2:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. with detours in effect.
This portion of Sharp Street will also close again on Friday, July 30, 2010 from 9:00 a.m.
until 11:00 p.m.
Broadway Closure: Starting Wednesday, 6/23 Starting Wednesday, June 23, at 6 a.m., Southbound Broadway will be closed to through traffic between Monument and Jefferson Streets. This portion of Broadway will remain closed for the duration of the project which is expected to be complete in approximately five weeks.
Motorists trying to access the Johns Hopkins parking garages located on Jefferson Street should enter the parking facilities via Orleans Street.
Commuters traveling in this vicinity may experience delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
Detour:
Southbound Broadway traffic will be detoured left on Monument Street, right on Wolfe
Street, right on Orleans Street back to Broadway.
New Dedicated Bus-Bike Lanes Created on Lombard and Pratt Streets The right-hand lanes of Pratt and Lombard streets have been reserved for bus and bicycle usage. According to the Department of Transportation, dedicated bus-bike lanes have gone into effect on Lombard and Pratt Streets between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and President Street.
These specially-striped lanes give priority to bicycles and busses, including the new Charm City Circulator. Drivers may also use the lanes for making right turns. Motorists found in violation of the dedicated lanes are subject to a $90 fine and the citation may result in points against the driver.
Utility Work on N. Charles Street
Trigen is conducting utility work on N. Charles Street between Saratoga and Pleasant Streets. The project will close the right lane to traffic. At least one lane will be open at all times. During afternoon peak (4 - 6 pm), the right parking lane will be restricted to facilitate traffic flow. Trigen is working with business owners to reduce the impact on businesses and patrons. All business will remain open for the duration of the construction.
I-295 Construction
The Maryland State Highway Administration is widening the B-W Parkway between I-695 and I-195. Construction will involve lane closing on nights and weekends, but will not be scheduled during public events like Ravens or Orioles games. Work is expected to be completed in fall 2011. Alternate routes include I-95, I-97, and US 1.
Ongoing Construction Projects
Mercy Hospital Construction Mercy Hospital is moving forward with construction of its $400 million inpatient tower building. In the coming months, this could bring delays and lane closures around the site in the vicinity of St. Paul Place, Calvert Street, and Pleasant Street.
